Hong Mijoo is a chief's daughter with the power of the fox running through her veins. The fox is the rarest and most of the animal spirits.

She runs away with her adopted sister Serim who has the power of the eagle owl to give freedom to all animal spirit kind.

As they travel from their winter home to the west and down to the south, some girls volunteer to join them in their journey. As they go south, they are taken hostage by the Shadows of the South.
