Margaret Anna Brown lives in the new capital of Arkansas, Little Rock. Her wealthy family tries to make Arkansas a blooming region. But there seems to be one problem which does not seem to be solved easy, the Cherokee. For decennia they tried to drive away large groups of them, but even negotiation did not help. Margaret lives in a world filled with hatred.
Until she meets William James McKenzie, a Scottish and Spanish man with a complicated personality and some dark secrets. When he shows her the true conflicts in America, it is already too late. The Trail of Tears cannot be stopped.
