Reckoning

Just another mission, the usual drill. Hunt down those outlaws who've thrown the Veil's rules to the wind. Been at it for over four centuries; it's become a habit, a grim one. But then, a cry cuts through the routine.

Tiny fingers, wrapping around mine, break the rule I never thought I'd break - leaving loose ends. Her path gets tangled with mine, and suddenly, nothing's routine anymore.
