Selfish Appetite is romantic fanfiction. It is also a book about loss, grief, abuse, substances and friendship. It's a book about the kind of second family your friends can become, if you let them. It's a tribute to grandparent affection. But, all in all, it is a book about love, how it affects our minds, our bodies. I feel like it has realistic aspects, I feel like these things touch all of us (substance abuse, grief, domestic abuse, love triangles etc.). I wanted to write a book that is so realistic, it actually frustrates readers, because there is no escape from reality. I wanted to write chapters that will keep readers on the edge of their seats, and out of their mind with worry and anticipation about the characters. Love can be a wicked thing, Sloan and Luke become extremely aware of that in Selfish Appetite. Keep in mind, love makes people act in strange ways, ways not everyone understands. And not every love or bond is the same, nothing should be considered conventional when it comes to love. * * * "Sometimes I wish you never kissed me." "Why?"
