A year has passed since the merging of Zarc and Ray's counterparts, and life has turned for the better, with Leo Akaba's imprisonment for his inter-dimensionak crimes. Yuya and Yuzu have split back into their respective counterparts while ensuring that Zarc cannot reform. It's a time of piece, or so it might seem on the surface for the time being. 101 duel spirits have been released from their cards, taking on monstrous forms and wreaking havoc, changing the landscape as they see fit using alchemy at seemingly whenever, and along with it, a mysterious monster-like person, Valvarad, aiming to seal them himself to conquer the new dimension in the name of Academia. The LEO Corporation have tried their best to keep up with these monsters using Solid Vision, but are unable to reseal them, so create a new device, the "Gotchardriver" and hand it to their top student, Fuga Ichiose, a student with practically limitless knowledge of Duel Monsters.
