Akuryo; It might as well have been a name to him. Well, now it was, anyway. All his life, Ren has known one simple fact: As a shapeshifter, he would never be welcome in the world, never seen as anything more than vermin at best, and hellspawn at worst. But when his attempt to do the right thing lands him in more trouble than he realized, he decides that what seemed like a fatal mistake might be his last chance to leave everything behind. To start over. Simple rules are set: Trust no one, stay alone, and stay alive. Then, once the year is over, live a quiet life as a normal human. But as friendships form left and right, fears demand to be faced, and the world unravels at its seams, there's only one thing that's clear: Ren thought he knew by now what fate had up its sleeve, but it seems it's decided instead that it won't be that simple. === A retelling of P5R featuring a race of mystical humans with the power to shapeshift into any one animal.
