Prologue

In a future world where water levels have risen and only a few cities are habitable Avery and a few others escapes the horrible volcanic eruption that destroys her city, Herculaneum and finds herself on a small island where she meets a mysterious young man who hides a dark secret.
In the far future Ash lives in a one bedroom apartment with his sister Maggie after escaping from an abusive stepfather. He starts his work as an archeologist, working to uncover the lost city of Herculaneum where he discovers his past and meets Will, the cute boy he can't help but fall for.
