Luz glanced around, scowling at the confirmation of her assumptions. She was, in fact, in the In-Between. The conflicted air still wafted through Luz's heart, left behind from the moment she'd met her Mamá in that awful place. She turned her attention to the source of the sound that'd excited her so much that she was in even worse pain than moments before.

It was her.

Well, this version of her was much taller, older, and incredibly bruised. Her clothes were worn-out and tattered and she looked as though she hadn't met a minute of sleep in years. What caught Luz's eye, however, was the plethora of jagged scars along her forearm.
