William Sparrow was a legendary knight in the first age of humanity. He was a pure soul who protected the lands from all sorts of evil, be they human or Grimm, but he was sealed away by the God of Light to safeguard mankind in the next era.

During the modern day, team RWBY is summoned by Ozpin to bring in a person in knight armor, who is displaying magical abilities and was originally discovered under Vale.
