Summer Jones has been Ricky Bowen's best friend since 5 grade. She was there for him when Nini and him broke up more then anyone was. She's always had a crush on him, but never did anything about it to save their friendship. They tell each other everything. Or at least that's what Ricky thinks. The one thing Ricky Bowen does not know about Summer Jones is her home life and how her parents are abusive. How will Summer's friends react when they find out? How will Ricky react when he finds out what his best friend had been keeping from him all this time? What will happen when the both of them audition for the school musical?
