Prologue

Briana Campbell doesn't know what she wants out of life. Being unemployed at 16, leaves her to wonder what her future will look like. It's already June, and Bria's hope of finding a job seems to be fading as every day passes. To clear her head, Bria goes on one of her familiar walks along the beach, the air is cool and calm on her skin, and the sound of the waves soothes every bad thought she seems to have about her life. Walking back she bumps into a drunk stranger, who like herself is alone.
She quickly feels sorry for him when he starts to cry, his vulnerability making her want to comfort him. It's evident he's drunk, by his bloodshot eyes and alcohol breath. But even so, she still sits with the drunken boy.
The next week, Bria gets begged to meet her best friends boyfriends group of punk, stoner friends who play in a band and rehearse in an abandoned college, the lead guitarist being the stranger from that night.

It's not until she meets a boy, who seems to view life the same as her, only a little bit more tragically. He's a stranger, and one of the few people she's been completely honest about her feelings with. The night they meet, they only speak for a few minuets, he's upset and drunk, but even so she feels the need to comfort him. After the interaction, a week later she still thinks of him, wondering what he's doing now, until her friend convinces her to meet her new boyfriends group of punk, stoner friends. The boy from that night being one of them.
