Chapter 1

Larry Plumber's family, including his wife Debbie and son Jordan, were victims of a shooting at a gas station. While the gas clerk survived with injuries, Debbie was killed and Jordan was severely injured. The police arrested Eric Arnold for the murder of Debbie and two attempted murders, but Larry, who does not believe in the death penalty, feels conflicted when he learns that Eric is facing it. Larry seeks the help of Jack Cooper to defend Eric, who remains silent about his motives. Meanwhile, Grady investigates the suspicious death of Victor Dashwood, and Jackie discovers some family secrets. April's past also resurfaces to trouble her.
