Part One: Keira

Fifteen-year-old Keira Abernathy hates everyone and everything about life. When she goes cross-country to rural Nova Scotia on vacation, she meets a girl who feels like nobody Keira has ever met, and a boy with glazed-over eyes and the weakest grasp on what the world is and what it means, who together teach Keira that life is not as meaningless as it seems.
