I stare into the nearby trees and spot a jabberjay, perched upon a branch sticking out from the deep green leaves." 14 year old Juniper Basil is an orphan struggling to keep herself and her ragged pet cat alive. She has olive skin, long jet black hair that spills out in waves, and storm cloud gray eyes. She lives in an old, crumbling house in District 12, or more specifically, The Seam. Her mother and father are dead, and Juniper resorted to living on scraps and garbage. Her cat, named Dandelion, is a black furred feline with bright golden eyes. She has scruffy fur and is quiet. Juniper only has entered her name into those glass balls 5 times. So on this particular July 4th, how could she be picked and called? But despite her odds, she is now District 12's female tribute for the 73rd annual Hunger Games. Now our main character is met with how she is going to survive- and who she wants to protect. Can Juniper make it out of this alive? What challenges will she face in the arena- or before the arena?
