"So, you believe that beauty is everything?" His voice was soft and soothing. He wasn't in a rush to discover her thoughts as he knew that would only ruin the conversation. He wanted to be trustworthy and be someone to whom she could pour her heart out. "Ye-yes! It is." She stuttered angrily with irregular breath and attempted to stop crying. Her puffy eyes, runny nose, and slight shaking of her body made it clear of she crying uncontrollably. Biting his lip, he stopped his smile and pulled her chair towards his, enclosing the distance between them. "Why do you think so?" His voice became softer and a hand rose to wipe the tears trickling down her cheek. His sweet gesture made her more emotional which was why she couldn't answer his question as her lips trembled and more tears burned her eyes. "Does it make someone happy?" He caressed her cheek so lovingly and crouched down to meet her lowered gaze and saw her nodding. "Am I happy?" His sudden confession was like a bolt from the blue, catching her off guard. Her eyes snapped to his and she swore she didn't look at those eyes. The bitter smile at the corner of his lips and eyes full of sorrow clenched her heart. He was a wealthy, handsome, muscular young man who could have anything he wished in a snap of his finger. Yet, happiness was nowhere near his reach.
