Prologue

Eeda Handal is a teenage Syrian orphan who was tortured, sold into sexual slavery, and lost her family to ISIS. Determined to forget about her past in war-torn Syria and start a new life in Europe, she seeks asylum in a small southern town in Sweden. When she is met with social pressures and emotional obstacles in Scandinavia, Eeda struggles to deal with the remembrance of her past and demands of the present. Unsure of who to trust or what to do, Eeda's decisions not only have lasting impacts on herself, but also on the relationships with those around her.
