Chapter One

Lyla wants to help others but can't figure out how. Her best friend Marie tries to convince her that she can live without it. When she meets this boy it's as if she immediately falls in love, but she doesn't tell anyone because she and Marie made pact to never like boys. She can't contain it. When the boy, Benjamin finds out, he teaches her to help others out when in need. But Benjamin gets in a crash and Lyla is devastated because he is in Los Angeles and she is in Topeka and can't do anything to help. He comes back to Topeka and she doesn't know how to feel about it. She asks herself how she should feel about him now.
