Cassandra Claire never planned to be married off to her brother's ex-fiancé, Kai Braxton, once she turned 18.

Twenty-one years ago, my brother, James Claire, was contracted to marry into the Braxton family for business purposes. However, this contract was recently revised by the two families due to "personality differences." In other words, my parents found a loophole to keep their golden child at home while pawning me in as a substitute.

Under normal circumstances, I would be thrilled to leave this hell I call home, but there is one problem. I am not into women and I hate the Braxton family, especially Kai Braxton.
