You had gotten used to life as a Kami with L, lounging in the highlands and drinking Nectar. The Kira incident was so long ago , you'd moved on. The kids had grown up, detectives themselves now. You were enjoying Devine married life.

To make sure that a death note would never touch the human realm again, all the death kami have banded together to control those pesky shinigami. And it worked perfectly.
