The words rang ever so true when King Bertram of the humans declared war on the elves, blaming them for orchestrating the mysterious attacks on travellers passing through the Elven Wilds. Farun is eager to join the hunters and fight to drive the humans and other threats out of his woods, if only his village elders would allow him. All he's been hearing since the beginning of the war is a resounding 'no.' But with the capture of Prince Malte, the third son of King Bertram, Farun is finally granted his chance to prove he's ready to be a hunter. He is to personally guard the prince while the village elders use their human noble captive as leverage to negotiate the end of the war with the human king. Farun resents his duty as the infuriating and flirtatious prince's warden, but is willing to do whatever it takes to become a hunter. What he never expected was to develop a bond with the human, and that this bond would determine the fate of humans and elves alike.
