Prologue

It's been eight years since Himmel Street was bombed and Liesel's mama, papa, and best friend, Rudy died. She's moved to America, where things are much better. She's happily married to Max and has a one-year-old son named Hans. She is continuing to push through her life until she sees on the news one day the world record of the fastest man has changed. The first boy she loved, and her best friend was alive, and well and he was in America. She was determined to meet up with Rudy, even if it meant putting her marriage in jeopardy.
