She's never minded it though, because she had her best friends, her family. They go on crazy adventures and get in trouble and just have fun and she loves it. At least most of the time she does. Sometimes it's hard, though. Knowing that you can never leave. That one day you'll grow up and still be stuck in this same position. Alone. Joey knew she had friends, but it wasn't always what she needed. Her father had left when she was 3 and her mother had gotten sick when she was 10. Joey's had to support her and her mother for years now and they still barely have enough to pay rent, much less but food and clothes. And of course, there was JJ. Her best friend who she was completely in love with. Joey has had a crush on JJ since forever but had always been to scared to tell him. Or find out how he feels about her. It didn't matter, because they were too different. It would never matter. But Joeys life changes forever when the Pogues find a sunken boat in the marsh and have to learn more.
