Melody Strauss is the adoptive daughter of Section Chief Erin Strauss at the Behavioural Analysis Unit. After surviving a notorious serial killer who kidnaps and sexually assaults his victims, she manages to persuade her mother to allow her on the investigation.

Whilst most members of the BAU are accepting of Melody, some are not.
