Some of them rise above everyone, the infection acting like a blessing. The "risen", as they call them. The ones who aquired certain gifts after being bitten. A lot of people thought they would be our saviors, but don't be fooled. These people are not human, they eat the same thing as the monsters; us. This is the story of Darielle, a young 23 years old woman with raven hair. Accompanied by her sister, Malia, and her childhood friend, Jeremy, she tries to survive in this burning world. Soon, a tragedy hits the little trio and Dari gets bitten by an infected. But nothing happens. She doesn't become a monster or a risen. She stays... normal? Darielle needs to keep this a secret. But when she meets Kai, a powerful risen who can read people's minds, she knows she is in grave danger.
