How would you treat a lamb raised to feed your starving family?

Would you kiss it, name it? Any emotional attachment would mean death for everyone but the lamb.

Accalia Gerheart is that lamb, raised to slaughter herself, so all other mix-breeds will survive.

A prophecy states: Should she live, all other mix-breeds will die.

In their world, it's illegal to exist as a mix-breed, death is the sentence for their crime.

Will Accalia be strong enough to die so many more may live, or is it all an illusion?
