Laurette Golding has lived in the Northpass Hotel since she was a child. She has no family except for the staff and the Manager at the hotel. Though she does wish she knew her parents, she's perfectly fine without them. She's honestly just your average girl if you don't count the fact that she's a orphan or that she has dyslexia. With her adventurous spirit she's a perfect person to have while on a quest. Kai Turner's mom works as the librarian at Northpass so he has grown up working at the hotel all his life. His father left when he was young so he never knew him. He's not the person you would think would be a hero. One day the Woods family comes for a visit. Or at least they're daughters do. Ginny Wood would much rather have just stayed at home if she was being honest. Her parents ignored her and her sisters most the time anyways. What difference would it make if she just had stayed home instead of going to the hotel that her parents were dropping her and the twins off at. The only good thing to come from it was when Ginny met Laurette and Kai. But nothing is great in any of their lives so of course something goes wrong...
