Jocelyn and Valentine had 3 children Jonathan, Clary and Piper. Piper is one year older than Clary. When the fire happened Jocelyn thought that Piper died with her father and brother so she took of. But she survived and was saved by the Clave. The Lightwoods took her in and raised her as their own.
