Ryann McCarthy spent half her life frozen in one place, powerless to the people around her. Safety in her house scarce, she learned to play by the rules-- to lie, cover up, and obey to keep her father's fits of rage to a minimum. With her parents away from her side and the world coming to an end around her, she learns what it's like to want to be alive-- and has to learn the new order of how to fight for herself.
