Mr. Altman, public inspector, finds himself newly assigned to investigate a strange series of crimes and disappearances occuring in the metropolis of Santapoli.

In the course of his investigation, his path intertwines with that of two freelancing journalists. A mutual effort brings all to make the conflicting discovery of the effects of an industrialised society on human existence.
