A few weeks ago, the British Parliament passed a bill that allows the practice of a "three parent" or IVF technique, which doctors say can help in the prevention of genetic diseases. Britain is the first county to do this and critics say this it is a step toward forming "designer babies" that they argue go against nature and our human ways. Despite opposition, parliament voted overwhelmingly to pass the bill. The technique, also called mitochondrial donation involves three parents, a mother, a father, and a female donor and should help families overcome incurable diseases passed down the maternal line that impact around 1 in 6500 children worldwide.
