Tobias is the first of the second iteration of Caretakers, beings tasked with gathering spark to care for the city and its inhabitant, both human and machine alike. He does his best, managing to acquire the necessary skills and companions. But, when one of them warns, "They are coming," he must make some quick decisions to save what he has worked so hard to foster. Will he be successful, or will the fate of the city be forever altered, sending him, and his companions to a slow death?
