"You- you were him," I say, flabbergasted. He doesn't say anything but the look on his face gives him away. "Why didn't you say anything?" I ask, now getting angry. He knew all this time and didn't say anything. "I didn't say anything because I didn't want to force that recollection out of you. I wanted you to tell me willingly. I didn't want you to feel some kind of way when I told you who I was. I only had good intentions when I held this from you. I would never want to harm you." He finally says. I know I can't get mad at him because he only means well. But I feel betrayed, deceived, tricked. I jerk my hand out of his hold as if I'd been burned. Standing from my chair, I turn on my heel and head for the door. "Wait." His voice rings through the room, bouncing off the walls and making me halt. "I'm sorry. And I don't expect you to forgive me. But please don't shut me out." At his words, I turn around to see him now standing from his chair, regret, and panic written on his face. "I'm not shutting you out. I just need some time to process." I reply. A nod of his head is all I get in response. "It's late. It would be best if you got some sleep. Goodnight." I say while walking out of his office.
