Prologue

Earth was on the precipice of being destroyed by overpopulation, famine, global warming, and microplastics. As society begins to deteriorate, a doctor finds a compound with a fountain of youth effect, Human Glandular Vitastamin. The HGV is released in the Striatum of a child's developing mind, and only occurs when nearly frightened to death. The United Republic of Eden offered another option: a utopia for a select few in exchange for a strict ceiling on Earth's population and outlawing the public from reproduction. The public gladly accepted this ultimatum seeing as though unemployment, reproductive malfunction, disease, and famine was rampant.

Eden created a task force for their efforts, the Center for Population Control, they began to create test-tube babies in order to manufacture this drug at a sustainable rate. This came with the inevitable conclusion that artificial humans weren't born with rights, and thus began a testing ground on the human genome.

These experiments eventually led into mutations unforeseen by scientists; beginning as cruel interpretations and mockeries of man, ending as children with catastrophic levels of power. They found if the baby's Striatum was injected with these cells in vitro, they stood a chance of forming a sort of parasitic bond with the host and their stem cells.

Endless possibilities soon loomed into the horizon for the CPC. They wanted to harness this power using HGV. The children were able to manipulate their own flesh. Forget avian genes, they had the power to contort their own cells into wings and amputate them at will; albeit painfully and at great detriment to the body.

Some called it infanticide; others called it a better world than before. Either way, the government got what they wanted. And the mutated children, well, they were more science fiction than reality in the public's eyes.
