Deadlock

A rotten emotion stirs a spot deep inside him, settles in there, fits into him as if it's always known this place.
He has always been one stumble away from being left, discarded.
... What is it?
He feels it, certainly. Buried within his chest, a terrible, choking pain. One that flows cooly through his body, and circles around his nervous system.
Fire and ice.

Varian doesn't forget, as much as he tries. Forgiveness is a long road to walk.
