Madeline knew that he makes bad decisions when isn't thinking rationally. But really, he would jump through that window multiple times if it meant he could meet the immortal mage Espresso which resulted in him laying out the path that he would take for the rest of his life.

Espresso is 2 yrs older than Madeline and met Madeline when he was 12 and Madeline was 10.

Espresso doesn't reciprocate feelings until later on
