Ursula convinces Ariel to sign a contract that would ultimately ruin the peace-loving haven King Triton has created for merfolk . Ursula had a unexplainable feeling that her plan wouldn't work , she convinces her only son , a 17-year old Cecaelia to go ashore and sabotage Ariel's attempts of courting Eric . But what the seawitch did not foresee , was the love that blossoms between the two teens , more meaningful and true than Ariels crush on Eric .
