Estrella is an eighteen year old girl with a heart of fire. She wants to see the world and do something with her life but she can't, in fear of the shadow people she had heard of countless times in her Nonna's stories, the very creatures that had killed her parents and threaten to kill all who are of witch descent, like her.

After a child in the village goes missing and nobody does anything about it in fear of leaving the safety of the village, Estrella goes out to find her, but instead finds something that changes her life forever.
