the gods never quite knew when enough was enough, or when it was just time to quit it. ashanti supposed that's why she hadn't been surprised that something else went wrong. something went utterly, and horribly wrong, not even an entire year after they'd finished fighting for their lives, and the entire western civilization. the gods never believed in the interest of those other than themselves, so it was no surprise to the dionysus girl that they'd taken him from her. the entire flight down from california, she felt completely numb. the moment she'd gotten the news, the coldness seeped deep into her veins, and spread a cruel iciness through her bloodstream. she'd been anticipating the annoying, but heart melting way he'd stoop down, and hide his face into the warmness of her neck. she'd been anticipating the way his cerulean, ocean green eyes would widen in an awestruck, star-studded surprise as if he hadn't known she was coming down to see him, and he totally did. she'd been anticipating the excited, but nervous flush of color to his cheeks when she'd finally be close enough to press her lips to his once more. but that'd all been cruelly snatched away from her. it wasn't coming in the slightest. at least, she tried to convince herself, not yet. she'd gotten that heart wrenching call from annabeth three days ago. she instead of curling into a ball, and crying like she did several times whenever percy jackson had some type of death scare, ashanti decided she was done with that three days ago. she left no room for herself to waste time lingering on being sad. no, the coldness hardened any part of her able to shed a tear at the moment. because for the last three days, she'd been determined to find him. part two to "the winemaker's daughter"! published: october 10th, 2023 finished:
