Beginning Characters

Every year on January 1st exactly one billion people are chosen to sacrifice themselves. The sacrifice on a guillotine was supposed to appease the death incarnates as they needed a break. But one year, they no longer held the sacrifice. Death made herself clear, instead, ten million children were going to become death incarnates. That should be a good thing, right? Right?

This is based on a short story I wrote.
