Finley Pericles is used to moving a lot. In fact her family could be considered unlicensed pro movers that bolt at the sight of any minor inconvenience.And so it is no wonder,that after tragedy hits that leaves the family scarred and Finley deadly afraid of the woods and the monsters inside of it, the family again packs their things up and changes homes. Now stranded in a small Alaskan town,Finley,surrounded by strange people and a big pine forest,is left to figure out her new life. I almost close my eyes in hopes that if I just press them close long enough the whole situation will be over.Then I can feel his warm breath on my ear. I shiver in disgust as he starts whispering. "I know that you are afraid of me, I can hear your treacherous heartbeat, I can see that your toughness is nothing more than a ruse. " His voice is raspy, it seems as if he had only just woken up although that can't be true. It is somewhat soothing, like he is talking to a child. My eyes narrow, he is mocking me. "Go on, back away. Follow that instinct of yours. I know you want to, just do it ". I push him away from me and look into his eyes. The storm inside of them has calmed and although they have a warm cognac tone, they feel icy as if they were touched by the frosty wind itself. I am not afraid, I am not afraid, I repeat that sentence in my head, like it is some kind of mantra. As if ,if I only repeat it long enough it will eventually become true. There is no need to guess what he is thinking at that moment, his whole face is plastered with mockery and pride. I will not let him win
