It's the 18th Century and Hadley Knox finds herself widowed and without any inheritance thanks to her husband's debts.

Packing up with her young son, Hadley travels to live with her aunt in Graystone. A town that is flourishing thanks to the gold rush and surrounding mines that provide the residents with their livelihoods.

Beginning to settle into a life that is less prosperous than she is used to, Hadley has heard the name of the family that own the large ranch on everyone's lips since her arrival.
