Chapter I

West Virginia, 1877

The McAubry boys and Elise Anderson didn't exactly start off on the right foot. Sapan had tried to blow Elise to kingdom come, she had tried to skewer both boys with a pitchfork, and Jackson had orchestrated her consensual kidnapping. Not the most common introduction. But after spending a few days under the care of the most dysfunctional gang in the east, Elise realizes that she hasn't felt so much at home since her mother died. And she isn't about to give up such a thing. Even if it means risking her life and --unknowingly-- the hearts around her.
