Description

This book is about the beliefs and culture of some communities in West Africa. It talks about the killing of twin babies and how they believed twin babies were a bad omen. Back in the day, so many traditions, cultures, and customs led to so many practices. Amongst these practices is the act of killing twin babies. Some traditions see twins as demons. They are said to have believed the twins' mothers may have had a coitus with a demon, which led to the twins. Some go as far as treating the parents of these twin babies as outcasts. While some other parts of West African countries see the twin babies as supernatural beings, they tend to worship them as their gods. Their beliefs say if the twin baby is not taken care of, there is a possibility of either the two or one of the parents losing their life. So many cultures believe twin babies are bad omens. In this book is a short story about a woman called Akadnuki who was married for 23 years. She had no children, nor was she ever pregnant or had a miscarriage even once in her marriage. She went for many consultations and was given sacrifices to offer to appease the gods of the village. The gods kept assuring her of having two children. On a faithful day, Akadnuki got a shocking revelation she couldn't comprehend. What could be the revelation? You will only know that in the full story.
