Description
Qulin Moore, a reclusive and misanthropic sorcerer with a horribly scarred face, and his wise sidekick, Som the talking Crow, seek to resurrect his deceased wife by procuring an elusive elixir with the fragile hope that doing so will rid him of a curse condemning him to suffer eternal life. A curse placed on him by his wife for not protecting her from an angry mob riled up by superstition during the 1600s. His unfriendly demeanor has lead to the people of Derryton to fear and avoid him. However an unexpected friendship develops when the arrival of a delinquent teenager--Lucas Cast, who, along with his overprotective mother are escaping from an abusive father/husband--move in next door. Lucas, trying to impress a girl, is caught stealing from Qulin and is taken prisoner by the sorcerer. Now, Qulin must prevent anyone from discovering he has taken the boy. A search for Lucas ensues, a group of Lucas' friends suspicious Qulin is the culprit devise a plan to break into Qulin's house and search for him.
