Chapter one

Reese Hayes, 17, is probably the definition of a hot mess. Her boyfriend is cheating on her, the last time she saw her mom was a a month ago, and on a Saturday she sits alone on a parks bench.
Marcus Miller is going through the motions. He is just another cog in the machine of life (he's also a big fan of metaphors). Marcus goes to for a walk in the park because the girl he's been chasing cancels again.

It just so happens there is only one bench in the park.
