Chapter 1

"Hey, keep your head up baby okay?" I couldn't look at him. I was too upset. Tears ran down my face. He kissed my forehead. My boyfriend, Channing, was going away to Iraq for a year. He was my everything. I couldn't do it. He gave me a hug and I just hugged him tight. I didn't want to let him go. "Tatum! Time to go!" When I heard that, I started crying even more. Ashley was with me. She gave him a quick hug. Channing gave me a kiss goodbye. "This is not goodbye. I love you. I'll see you soon." He turned around to board the plane. I stood with Ashley as I cried. I waved goodbye to the plane as it took off. "I'll see you soon. I love you" I whispered. I went back to the car with Ashley. "Ash can you drive? I wouldn't be able to focus." "Yeah of course" I went over to the passenger side and looked out the window. We were on the interstate and I started to cry again. "Awh mads it's okay. He'll be back I promise" we got home and I just went straight to bed to find no one laying next to me.
