Jeannette Gallagher had moved to America in hopes of finding a better life than what her father had planned. What she didn't anticipate though, was being swept downriver to the American south, where she meets a wise story teller who introduces her to the tales of Br'er Rabbit and other animal tricksters.

Overtime, she learns how to embrace herself and find love and happiness through some unusual new friends.
