When she's there, to try and get some inspiration after a few months into a writing block, Freya joins a small guided tour of Reykjavik. On one of their excursions, the tour guide takes them to one of Iceland's many volcanoes and introduces her brother, a very handsome volcanologist, who - much to Freya's frustration - is also incredibly charming. Soon, Freya is thrust into a world of arctic weather and nature, the truth about her childhood, mystery, heathenry, and an eruption of feelings, lava, and ash that surprises them all...
