Y/N L/N has been living in Miss Peregrine's home with her boyfriend Millard Nullings and other peculiar children for 8 or 11 years now and they were like family to her. A few years back, Victor Bruntley was killed by a human like creature which miss peregrine calls them as hollowgasts. We've been precautions ever since then and it's been difficult until Jacob Portman shows up. He was a peculiar like you guys but could see things differently.
