Chapter 1

Elaine has spent most of her life in the shadows, and the dark side of humanity is all she has ever known. Never once, has she been on the receiving end of gentle hands, or kind words, and the brave shell she uses as a mask, along with every thing she knows comes from countless nights of fear and pain. One day, when she is taken from the shadows, and thrown into a strange castle, she finds that not everything is as she believes, and she may be able to finally face her darker side with some help from a book obsessed girl.
